Abstract

Saussurea lappa Clarke is an endangered medicinal herb of pharmacological significance which is included in CITES Appendix-I. Four separate forms of chemicals sterilising HgCl2 (0.1 percent w/v), NaOCl (2 percent w/v), PPM (50 percent v/v) and H2O2 (2 percent v/v) were subjected to seeds for different period durations (4, 7, 11 and 16 minutes). HgCl2 care for 4 minutes reached 100% sterilisation with the maximum percentage of germination (53.32%).
